Lano (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a receipt vault that helps you capture receipts, keep them organized, and get reminders before warranties and return windows expire. We built Lano to be private by default: your receipts live on your own device, not in our cloud. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices.
Receipt content you create. When you add a receipt, the app stores its image and the details you keep or edit (store name, date, total, line items, notes, warranty and return dates). This information is saved only on your device using the device’s local storage. It is not uploaded to any account or synced to the cloud.
Camera and photo library. With your permission, the app uses your camera to photograph receipts and lets you import existing photos. Images are used solely to create receipts and are stored locally on your device. The app does not browse, upload, or scan any other photos in your library.
Receipt images sent for text extraction (OCR). To auto-fill receipt
details, the app sends the captured receipt image over an encrypted (HTTPS)
connection to our processing service at api.heylano.com, which forwards it to
our text-extraction provider, Anthropic, PBC
(the makers of Claude AI). The provider reads the image and returns structured text
(such as store name, date, total, and items), which is sent back to your device and saved
locally. The receipt image is transmitted only for this real-time processing and is
not stored on our server after the request completes. Per Anthropic’s API
terms, data submitted through their API is not used to train their models.
Notifications. If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming warranty and return deadlines. These are generated on your device — there is no push server, and no notification data leaves your phone.
To keep the app reliable, we may use a third-party crash-reporting service to collect anonymous diagnostic information if the app crashes (such as the type of error and device model). This data does not include your receipts or images and is used only to diagnose and fix problems. If this feature is enabled in your version of the app, it is covered by the service provider’s privacy policy.
Receipt data and images are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. Data sent for OCR travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because your receipts are stored locally and not in our cloud, the security of that data also depends on your device’s own protections (screen lock, encryption, and OS updates).
Local-only means you are responsible for backups. Lano does not back up your receipts to the cloud. If you uninstall the app, reset your device, or lose it, your locally stored receipts are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us.
Lano is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will address it.
Because Lano stores your receipt data on your device and does not maintain accounts or a central database of users, you remain in direct control of your information and can access, edit, or delete it at any time within the app. Depending on where you live (including under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and other applicable laws), you may have additional rights regarding personal data; contact us with any request.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this URL. Significant changes will be reflected here.
